Medical Social Worker
The medical social worker is responsible for providing assistance with social issues for patient and family. Some essential job functions include the following:
- Assessing the psychosocial status of patients and communicating those findings to the nurse
- Serving as a liaison between patients or families/caregivers and community agencies
- Assisting the physician and other team members in understanding significant social and emotional factors related to health problems
- Participating in case conferences as required.
